Buy your Forklift

Buying a forklift is a big investment. The best forklift (which is always the right forklift for your unique operation) can help you save money, increase productivity, and decrease your overall downtime.

What you should know before buying your Forklift

You’ll need to know your requirements. As you navigate the wide range of products available in the material handling market, the first thing you’ll need to know is what you’re trying to accomplish.

  • How high do you need to lift?
  • Where will the forklift primarily be used – indoors or outdoors?
  • How wide are the aisles and doors?
  • How many hours will the forklift be in use per day?
  • What kind of tyres will you need?
  • Are there any specific options or accessories you will need?
  • Do you have properly trained operators?

New Forklift vs used Forklift

Another major consideration many buyers face when comparing forklifts is whether to buy a new or used machine. In fact, for some business owners, it isn’t a decision at all but rather the only option available.

Though far from the most critical consideration, the age of the machine is one of the first things to consider. Usually imprinted within the serial number or stamped on or near the mast, the year the machine was manufactured may also be reflected in the series.

If you’re buying within the current year, expect to pay 100% of the book value. But if you’re trying to save money, look for a machine that’s at least five years old.

The more important consideration when buying a used forklift is the overall shape the forklift is in. Was it regularly serviced? Can it start and operate? What is the condition of the tyres?

When you buy a forklift from us we pride ourselves upon the fact that the forklifts, although used, are operating as good as a new forklift.
